Who would expect any drama with the third season of "The Next Food Network Star?" It's been a pretty calm program. Well, you never can tell what they'll cook up next.

"The Next Food Network Star" TV show has been pretty mellow especially when compared to "Hell's Kitchen." But, the program ended up with some interesting twists to polish off this season.

Amy Finley got a second chance when she was voted back on by viewers after being cut by the program judges. Then, she got wacked again going into the final two. But . . . Jag ended up resigning. That moved her back into the running, and Amy ended up walking away with the win and with a 6 program contract with Food Network.

The real news this season is not Amy winning. It's Jag going on the air pretending to have served with the Marines. Well, he was in the Marines. He just didn't go and fight as he suggested. When caught in his lies, he resigned and played it off. He even had the nerve to whine about others telling him that he'd "never amount to anything." You would think that the guy was a victim. He certainly seems to think so.

As far as Amy goes, she seems like a nice enough lady and cooks well. She does not have TV charisma though. I caught her on "The View." She was just as stiff after winning as she often was during the contest. While the View ladies were gabbing, she was very uptight about getting her dishes going. She really needs to learn to work and chat at the same time. Actually, I think she'd be better suited to writing cookbooks than doing live television. Time will tell.
