I'm still resting up from the Lexington, North Carolina Barbecue Festival which was held yesterday. If you missed it, then it's an annual event. Mark your calendar now for Saturday, October 25, 2008.
The Lexington Barbecue Festival is one of the best festivals in the southeast. Heck, it's one of the best festivals ever.
The local paper, The Dispatch, ran an editorial about the festival and about Lexington style barbecue which I really enjoyed as I was reading over notes on the 2007 blow out. Folks in Lexington and all over North Carolina love to talk about BBQ. They also like to fight about who makes the best barbecue. There's an invisible line through the state where barbecue shifts from tomato based to vinegar. I'm on the vinegar side of the line. I like tomato based too, but SHHHH. I'm not supposed to say that.
For more about the Lexington festival (which has now been named the official state food - but not barbecue - festival), check out my review and photos at Viewpoints. If you attended, you can add your thoughts. Viewpoints is a consumer site where you can review virtually anything.
