Do You Eat Without Thinking?

Cornell Professor Looks at Mindless Munching

We are a fat nation for a lot of reasons. Most solutions focus on cutting back. A new study digs deeper and looks at the robotic eating that is quite common today.

It's rather old news that we eat more than we should. That's why so many people are overweight. Duh there.

A Cornell professor is now looking at mindless food consumption. I suspect that he'll just find that we munch for no particular reason, but what do I know? I just had a hamburger and french fries while watching the ballgame.

I did find a great book with practical solutions for living a healthier lifestyle. Daphne Oz is a college student. She entered college with a weight problem, but she did research and came up with a rather painless appoach to better living that worked for her. Though I'm not a college student, I found Oz's book really helpful. You can read my review on the book at Consumer Help Web.

I've made some minor adjustments suggested by Oz and have lost some weight. I can't say how much as I tossed out the scales some time back. I figure no news is good news. But, I can sure tell that my jeans are too big after a few weeks with minor shifts in lifestyle.

I'd highly recommend The Dorm Room Diet by Oz (which is not really a diet). It would be terrific for a kid off to college (and hoping not to put on weight like many do) but also works for the oldsters back at home. No. I don't follow all her suggestions. I'm really not all that keen on snow ball fights at this point, but most of her ideas worked and didn't cramp my lifestyle.
