When I make peanut butter crackers, the salt MUST be on the outside. It always drove me nuts that my mom turned the salty side in. She said it kept the salt from falling off. So, there you go. We all have our ideas on perfection especially when it comes to food.
My son is the worst. For 8 years, he carried his lunch to school. Every single day he ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Not just any old peanut butter and jelly sandwich though.
The peanut butter had to be Jiff (choosy mothers you know) and the jelly had to be grape (Welchs). Well, he would eat homemade grape jelly, but we didn't have that all the time.
Peanut butter had to be spread on two pieces of bread. Then, the jelly was between these slathers of peanut butter. Not too much jelly mind you. Just enough.
This daily sandwich had to be cut diagonal and twice for 4 little triangles. Cut it in squares and he flat would not eat it. Ask his dad. When he went for a visit, they had a really bad evening over this strange sandwich thing and the squares that the kid would not eat for anything. He ended up calling and crying, because his sandwich was not "right."
Another ritual sandwich we eat around here is bacon and cheese. This is another one that should be made just so to be extra tasty. I thought I'd share that one and all the little tips. If you make it right, I'm sure you will fall in love with it. You might even be able to mess up and still enjoy the sandwich. I wouldn't chance it though myself.
