Mix Up a Lovely Dip with Spinach and Vegetable Seasonings

You don't even have to like spinach to love Spinach Dip. This southern dip is great with bread, chips or with fresh vegetables.

Some people say, "Oh yuck!" when they here that the word "spinach" and especially when the next word is "dip," but it doesn't take but one bite to convert most into spinach dip lovers. Even kids decide that underrated greens taste better than they look and sound.

Southern Spinach Dip is easy to make. The hardest part is mashing the water out of the spinach.

It's also an attractive dip. The green spinach and the specks of vegetables from the soup mix give it a festive appearance.

Spinach Dip Recipe

Directions:

  1. Mix the mayonnaise and sour cream until well blended.
  2. Be sure the spinach is thawed out. Place the spinach in a colander and press over a sink to get as much water as possible out of the spinach. This part is a little messy. Once most of the water is out of the spinach, stir it in the mayo and sour cream mixture.
  3. Drain the water chestnuts and chop them up fine. Add to dip and stir.
  4. Stir vegetable soup mix and chopped onion and stir.
  5. Seal the dip in a container like Tupperware and chill for a couple of hours or more.

Spinach Dip is very pretty served in Hawaiian bread. Just hollow out the center of the bread. Save the center torn into small pieces. Put the dip in the hollowed out bread and serve the small pieces for dipping. Do this right before serving.

This dip recipe is also great with any kind of chips and with fresh vegetables like broccoli, carrots and celery.
