Tickle your taste buds with a Southern peanut butter dip that really is finger licking good.

Southerners are big on dips. If it’s good plain, then it’s bound to be even better with some kind of great dip and especially a sinful dip like Creamy Peanut Butter Dip.

For those who have never heard of or tried peanut butter dip, it is somewhat similar to the center part in Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup candies, but it’s thinner, richer, and even better than the candy centers. This dip is seriously sinful and hard to turn down and hard to eat in moderation. If you think the kids are bad, keep an eye on the adults. They will be scarfing down this peanut butter dip so fast your head will spin.

Southern Creamy Peanut Butter Dip Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup peanut butter (creamy is best and Jiff or Peter Pan are favorites in terms of peanut butter brands)
  • 1 block of cream cheese 8 oz. (let it sit out and soften ahead of time)
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed (light or dark work – but light is preferred)
  • ¼ cup whole milk (no need to skimp here on a recipe that is not on the health food list anyway)

Directions:

  1. First, do let the cream cheese sit out and come to room temperature. A good time estimate is around an hour but depends on the house temperature. This just makes it much easier to mix the dip.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, put the softened cream cheese, peanut butter, brown sugar and milk.
  3. With a hand mixer, beat until the peanut butter mixture is smooth and creamy.
  4. Serve at room temperature or store in the refrigerator and warm slightly and stir before serving.

Peanut Butter Dip is frequently served with sliced apples, but the dip is also good with other fruits like pears and even strawberries.

Various breads and crackers also make good dippers with this fun dip. Graham crackers are especially good, and kids seem to like animal crackers as dippers for peanut butter dip.

Another option is to get the miniature chocolate bars and dip with those. The plain chocolate – milk or dark chocolate – are favorites, but any type of small chocolate candy could work.
